Weakest of the trilogy? I still have to rewatch PP3 to be completely sure but, compared to the first one, the delusions of grandeur of Pitch Perfect 2 weighs it down. The only memorable moment is the ending and even that doesn't compare to the ICCA Finals. It's less funny, it's bloated (I'll die on the hill that Amy and Bumper's side story was completely unnecessary and unmoving, specially considering how little we see of Jesse and Beca—who might as well have already broken up), the riff off is painful, we don't even actually get to see much of their work as a group gearing up to Worlds aside from the retreat. Really, I was telling my friend that the only reason the Bellas winning Worlds agains DSM makes sense is because while DSM is a fun crowd pleaser, the Bellas were being practically held at gun point to win or disappear, making the emotional stakes the sole factor tipping the scales in their favor. But, there was an unfortunate a loss of potential. Bless my Bellas, though. These are my girls forever.

Clunky sequel coasts on the cast's chemistry and some fun musical numbers. But definitely a step down from the effortless original.
